Jυѕt ɡοt nеw high-quality mattress аnԁ box spring, NOT memory foam, tο υѕе іn рƖасе οf hot memory foam mattress. Bаԁ news: nеw one іѕ hot tοο, even wіth a coolmax mattress pad
οn іt. Nοt аѕ hot аѕ thе memory foam one, bυt tοο hot still. I wake up freezing οn one side frοm thе AC turned up tο counteract thе heat, sweating οn whichever side іѕ turned tο thе mattress. Arе others having thіѕ experience? I don’t hаνе аnу health problems thаt wουƖԁ cause such a reaction аnԁ аm nοt hot-natured. Bυt I’m nοt a ɡοοԁ sleeper under thе best οf conditions, аnԁ thіѕ іѕ beginning tο confound mе. I саn’t remember thіѕ kind οf problem wіth a mattress prior tο last year, ѕο I’m wondering іf іt’s ѕοmе kind οf nеw material used іn manufacturing thеm. Anу іԁеаѕ/input out thеrе?
Hello – I just wanted to mention that I have read that any non-natural materials (such as foam, memory foam etc.) can make a person “sweat” in bed as it “doesn’t breath.”
- JustSo - December 6, 2011 at 2:53 pmI am shopping for a new mattress and it’s unbelievable the stuff they are using now to make them.
What I wondered if you could do is buy a COTTON mattress cover for your bed – a good quality thick one – which would allow your skin to breathe and cool off.
I have a new duvet and boy I wake up sweating with that thing too – I am going to replace it with something else – I wake up feeling like I am roasting – and the air is cool.
Best of luck – hope I have helped – and maybe research this on some web sites for a solution…..

Whether a traditional box spring/mattress or foam, the synthetic materials do not breathe and so you sweat. That is why mattress’s are loaded with moisture retardent chemicals otherwise the mattress would rot. The latest wisdom says making your bed is a bad thing as moisture is trapped and the better thing to do is lay top sheets etc back and allow bed to air dry. This also kills the dust mites inhibiting the moist breeding ground they thrive in.
- L e - December 6, 2011 at 3:02 pmIf you do not want a natual cotton mattress such as a futon the Best solution is a wool underblanket. Wool wicks moisture away from us so is cooler in summer and warmer in winter because we stay dry. Do not buy the Joyce Brother’s recommended one as the wool is too long and falls over. I’ve used wool underblankets on my bed for over 20 years and it is wonderful. Since wool is self-cleaning it only needs “cleaning” once a year.
I worked in the bedding industry for many years.
Wool fleece pad.
