  3. It is Not OK to put the mattress pad under a 4 inch slab of any foam including 4 inches of memory foam.

    1 That is not what it is designed for.

    2 The electric mattress pad may not be able to dissipate the heat properly and could burn.

    3 The foam is not designed to be helpful in letting heat through it; most memory foam actually traps the heat. It is temperature sensitive and reactive foam that usually holds heat.

    If the wires are bothering you, it does not sound like a quality mattress pad to begin with after all a mattress pad is designed to do a couple of things.

    Add comfort
    Protect the mattress from body oils and fluids
    Add breathability to the sleep environment
    And in this case control sleeping temperature.
