- Doggie Luva - May 1, 2011 at 9:08 amIt is Not OK to put the mattress pad under a 4 inch slab of any foam including 4 inches of memory foam.
1 That is not what it is designed for.
2 The electric mattress pad may not be able to dissipate the heat properly and could burn.
3 The foam is not designed to be helpful in letting heat through it; most memory foam actually traps the heat. It is temperature sensitive and reactive foam that usually holds heat.
If the wires are bothering you, it does not sound like a quality mattress pad to begin with after all a mattress pad is designed to do a couple of things.
Add comfort
Protect the mattress from body oils and fluids
Add breathability to the sleep environment
And in this case control sleeping temperature.
